Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. When she was just five when she left for Oxfordshire and attended her first Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized she would like to be an actress. For several years, she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned the art of acting and dancing. Her performances had been in several Stagecoach or school shows before she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Emma was discovered by agent via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been chosen for these parts. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first appearance in a film was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It broke all records on its opening and weekend ticket numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Critics praised the film and the performance of three leading actors of the young generation. The well-known British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable. Emma's performance was recognized and was awarded five awards for the movie.
